Travel Plan

Arrive at Leh, meeting on arrival and transfer to the Hotel. Today till 1.30 PM time for acclimazation to getused of 3500 Meters height from sea level. Later visit Shanti Stupa Shanti Stupa: - Large Stupa with large concentric circles around it, pretty much on the lines of the Temple of Heaven at Beijing, gives you peace of mind the moment you land up at the site. The view of the valley from the stupa gallery is wonderful and you can see range of Himalayan mountains snowcapped as well barren but the arrangement is such that you can just think of God and his magic is creating an unbelievable weather extreme landscape portfolio. Evening you can walk through the Leh Market. Return to the Hotel for overnight stay.

Breakfast at hotel, proceed Kargil along the Indus River via Alchi and Lamayuru. Alchi, in Ladakh region is a small village situated on low land, is about 70 km to the west of Leh. very fertile and it is all green with apricot trees on both side of road. This region had influence of Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism because it falls on the route to Turkestan of China but its isolation helped the village and gompas to keep their cultural traditions safe from the outer influences. Alchi monastery is the farthest you go on the day and it is a real treat. It has years old Buddha statues and has a nice old monastery kind of feel to it. The garden area and the backdrop of Indus River. Lamayuru : One of the oldest Monastery in Ladakh is quite unique and amazingly perched on a rocks, views of the mountains and Moonland from the monastery are quite spectacular. The best photographs of the monastery can be taken from the road just before you drive to top of hill where the monastery is located. The moon like topography is unique and is believed to be created by drying of a huge lake. On arrival at Kargil, check-in at hotel. Overnight

After breakfast at Hotel in Kargil proceed to visit Hunderman & Dras War Memorial Hunderman Village : Became part of India in 1973 after 1971 India Pakistan War. The ruins are still there with a museum around 15 kms from kargil. The route to village is beautiful with Sindh River flowing on side. After the point from where Pakistan can be seen with binocular one can head ahead to Hunderman. You need to cross army check post to enter the village which is the last village. From there one can see the army post of India and Pakistan on different hills. Dras War Memorial: Pay homage to our warriors, The central feature of the memorial is a pink sandstone wall bearing a brass plate engraved with names of the soldiers who died during Operation Vijay. Visible from the site are the Tololing Heights, Tiger Hill, and Point 4875 (Batra Top), where fighting took place during the conflict. A documentary is shown at regular intervals for the visitors. Artillery n fighter aircraft used in during Kargil war is also displayed here. Return to the for overnight stay.

Today after early breakfast excursion to The Suru Valley The Suru Valley: One of the most beautiful fertile valleys of the Zanskar region in the Ladakh. The valley extends from Kargil in the south towards Zanskar for a length of around 85 kms. The mountains are multi-hued with red lichen, low green shrubs and tall poplar trees at settlements. One can espy the Nun Kun glacier and after crossing Penzi La, view the Drang Drung glacier. Visit the historic village of Kartse Khar to witness the 7 th Century Rock cut Maetriya Buddha statue Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

After Breakfast at hotel, proceed to the Aryan Valley. explore the Aryan Valley villages and Drok pa community. Dah Hordas Hanu and Beema, Aryan Musem at Gorkun are some of the major villages. These beautiful villages run parallel to the Indus River and the entire landscape is like a canyon. One must go and explore these places to understand life in the rural Himalayan kingdom and appreciate how these locals have made organic living a way of life. The Aryans were regarded as the ‘Master Race’—tall, blue - eyed blondes endowed with superior intelligence and values. Nestled in 4 villages of Ladakh (Dah, Hano, Darchik and Garkon) the Brokpa also have blue eyes, lighter skin, and they stand taller than residents of surrounding communities. They claim to be be the pure bloodline of the Aryans and myth has it that they trace their genetic history to the members of the Alexander’s army which stayed back. Later drive to Leh, on arrival check-in at hotel. Overnight.

After breakfast at Hotel in Leh proceed to Nubra Valley through Khardung la, the highest passable road in the world, you go from sunshine to snow to rain, the phenomenal valley will blow you away. Sand dunes camels and rock formations that will remind you a landscape from Mars. The main attractions in Nubra valley are Hundar village for double hump camels. which is highest motorable road in the world. Nubra is approx 150 Kms from the Leh town and takes approx 5 hours (Including small halt at Khardung la and couple of other places). The road from south pullu to north pullu (29 Kms) is loose rock and dirt but rest of the road is paved. The main attractions in Nubra valley are Hundar village for double hump camels. In the evening walk around the local villages to see their daily life. Your stay at Nubra will be at camp or hotel in Hunder. Overnight.

After breakfast at Camp/Hotel, checkout and proceed to visit Diskit monastery the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery (gompa) in Diskit, in the Nubra Valley it belongs to the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo, a disciple of Tsong Khapa, founder of Gelugpa, in the 14th century. It is a sub-gompa of the Thikse gompa.Lachung Temple .The monastery has statue of Maitreya Buddha in the prayer hall, a huge drum and several images of fierce guardian deities. An elevated cupola of the moanstery depicts a fresco of the Tashilhunpo Monastery of Tibet Drive back to Leh. Overnight at Hotel
