Gone are the days when most tourists used to limit themselves to Shimla Manali Dharamshala., more and more tourists are searching for serene virgin places, Kareri trek in Mcleodganj Himachal is one such attraction situated in Kangra valley its about 40 kms from Dharamshala. Kakeri lake trek is one of the great offbeat trek. Less crowded trek, away from maddening crowd and old treks. Kareri lake trek is full of nature and views. Niyund is a river/stream flowing from the Kareri lake and the setting of the entire village is quite picturesque. One can explore Kakeri lake trek entire area and camp next to the wonderful streams. Kareri Lake trek requires some stamina and therefore not for all.  Best months to trek to Kareri Lake are March end till June & then October to December.

Travel Plan

We will pick you up from a Dharmshala/Mcleodganj and drive to Kareri Village a Scenic Route Surrounded with Beautiful Snow-Capped Mountains which is approx. 26 kilometers from Dharmshala with driving time of 2 hours. The local people of Kareri village belong to the Gaddi tribe. Gaddis are semi nomadic, semi-agricultural and a semi-pastoral tribe. They have a defined culture, expressed through language, dress, food, marriage, song, and devout celebrations. Trek starts from Gaddi’s village through pine, cedar forest. Arrive at Reoti Base Camp. The trail initially passes through dense forest along Nyund Nulla leads to a rocky terrain. Check-in at base camp at Reoti, Rest of the day at leisure, enjoy the virgin natural beauty of Reoti. Dinner at Base camp. Overnight.

Enjoy your breakfast at the Camp and leave for Kareri Lake trek, the trail moves along Nyund Nullah. Snow melting from the Dhauladhar range serves as the source of the lake and a stream, Nyund is the outflow. The trek to Kareri Lake passes through thick pine forest and a few small villages. This high-altitude Himalayan Lake receives water from the snow melting from the Dhauladhar range. Arrive at Camp. check-in Kareri Lake water is crystal clear and is blessed with the virgin natural beauty and holy site for the locals like Gujjars and Gaddis who reside in the nearby villages. Enjoy your time, place is amazingly beautiful, nestled between towering mountains and lush green slopes. Spend some time by the lake basking in some moments of peace and solitude. A hot and scrumptious dinner will be served to you at the campsite. Overnight.

After breakfast at Camp, leave for Dharmshala/Mcleodganj halt at Ghera Village for freshen up and change. Reach Mcleodganj to mark the end of the tour with loads of memories for a lifetime
