Ladakh, Markha Valley Trek via Zinchen is a premium trekking place and the best region to walk during the northern summer months. Famously known as the Teahouse Trek of the Ladakh, the Markha Valley Trek is a remote valley of Ladakh located near Leh . World famous for its trekking trails, offers amazing views through beautiful villages. You will encounter two passes of 4900 m coupled with a possibility of snowfall in the higher reaches. Ladakh translates into “Land of High Passes”, Valley heights range between 8,000 feet and 15,000 feet above sea level. The Markha valley is a beautiful preserved valley in the heart of the Himalayan Mountains and trekking there is a treat with amazing landscapes, 

Usually, it is advisable to stay in Leh at least 2 days before starting the trek, reasoning Leh is situated at the altitude of 3,500 m, which carries a high risk of altitude mountain sickness, and this risk is even higher if you start ascending when not properly acclimatized.

Travel Plan

Pick up from your hotel in pre-decided hotel in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida or Airport and transfer to the Airport for flight for Leh. Our representative will receive you in Leh airport and transfer to the hotel in Leh. Check-in. Your day today is for rest for acclimatisation of high altitude. Evening free to walk down to the market on your own. Overnight at Hotel in Leh.

After breakfast at the hotel sightseeing tour of Leh, visit the ancient Leh palace. After a drive of an hour and a half over 45 kms. crossing the Indus River, visit the Hemis Monastery, where history challenges the myths associated with the place, located on the precipice of a barren and rugged mountain, this huge monastery is a repository of rare documents and artefacts, part of which is housed in a well-maintained Museum for the tourists, also spot two other famous places Thiskey Monastery and Shey Palace. In the evening spend time at Shanti Stupa. Overnight at Hotel.

After breakfast at the hotel, drive upto chilling which is approx. 65 Kms with an hour and a half drive from Leh town, Zinchan is the starting point of your Ladakh’s Markha Valley Trek with gradual climb from Zinchen to Rumbak. here you are surprised with fabulous views of the snowcapped Stok Mountains. trek along the Rumbak Nala towards Yurutse village – one of the best Ladakhi village in Markha Valley. The stage ends in Yurutse, where there is a single but spacious house with beautiful views of the Stok Kangri. Overnight in Tents.

Today after breakfast Trek from Yurutse (4200m) - Ganda la base 3880m. the trail starts from Kaya and passes through Skiu, (also known as Skyu), after long descent to Shingo trek on a narrow and stunning gorge leading towards Skyu and the valley opens out. You are now reached at main Markha Valley. Overnight stay at Homestay in Skyu Village. Trek distance: 17 Kms. 7-8 Hours Yurutse to Skyu Altitude Ganda-La 4,961 Mtrs, Skyu 3,400 Metrs

DAY 5: Skyu to Sara Trek After breakfast in the Morning proceed for your day trek to Sara village - incredible sights and surreal rock formations, timeless village, climb up and down to pass the broken section of the trail. The trail ahead goes through a bridge crossing. We then head up the Markha Valley to Narding (3530m) and further 3 kms.village of Sara Village offers a sun terrace a comfortable, grassy campsite. Overnight at campsite. Trek Distance 10.5 Kms 4 Hours Altitude -Skyu: 3,400 Mtrs, Sara: 3,500 Mtrs

After breakfast at campsite trail continues through a series of willow and gorse thickets to a bridge over the River Markha. Enjyo trekking along with the Markha River here you get stunning views of the valley below. All trails that are situated at the slopes above Markha river are doomed to be destroyed by erosion in a years and not centuries. In Markha, the biggest village in the valley, there are about 20 homestays, If you have enough time, it is possible to visit local monastery. Overnight at homestay in Markha Village. Trek Distance 11 Kms 4 to 5 hours Altitude: -Markha 3,750 Mtrs

After breakfast today you will continue ascent along Markha river. Unless the locals are building a bridge across Markha river, there will be at least one fording. Use trekking polls for security. About 5 km after Markha village there is Umlung village Before Umlung village you will see a monastery unbelievable built on a high rock (worth visiting if time allows). with a nice view at Kang Yatze – the highest peak in this area (6400 m) Trek Distance: 11 Kms 5 Hours Altitude Hankar 4,000 Mtrs

Breakfast at homestay. Today is little difficult day, about 12 km and 850 m of altitude gain, but with superb views and a lot of wildlife along the trek. First few kilometers involve navigating along Markha stream, with a possibility of some fordings (depending on water level and status of the path hanging above the stream). Some 2 km after upper Hankar the valley divides: to the left goes a proper trek to Nimaling, to the right the trek via uninhabited Langtang valley. After several more kilometers of walking among picas and marmots you will reach Nimaling. Accommodation at provided at tented camp. Local trips may involve a walk to Kang Yatze base camp (5100 m) or even ascending the slope above Nimaling (6000 m; no rock or ice climbing needed to get to such a high altitude). Overnight in Tents in Nimaling Camping ground. TREK DISTANCE: 9 Kms 3 to 4 Hours Altitude – Nimaling 4,700 Mtrs

Breakfast at campsite, Although Kongmaru La is the highest point of the trek, which is almost 400 m above Nimaling, cross the stream and the route to the pass is obvious. As your ascent, the views toward Kang Yatze and neighbor 6000+ m peaks, and also distant Zanskar Range are fantastic. there are plenty of fearless picas and marmots (except for the moments when an eagle approaches and tries to catch something for lunch). After a short break at Kongmaru La and obligatory breathtaking vistas, there will be a long descent through beautiful colorful canyons. Finally, there will be a parachute restaurant in Chuskyumo and a few kilometers further down Chokdo, from here you will be driven back to Leh, on arrival check-in at hotel for overnight stay. Trek Distance 16 Kms 7 Hours Altitude: - Kongmaru 5,200 mtrs Chokdo 3,700 mtrs.

Breakfast at Hotel, later in time transfer to the Airport for flight for Delhi. Rs. 42000 (Minimum of 4 Paying Person)
